Recycling polycotton, which accounts for half of textile waste, may soon become the norm

Sumary of Recycling polycotton, which accounts for half of textile waste, may soon become the norm:

  • While solid and polyester can be cycle when they are ‘axenic’ blended fabrics, those mixed with natural fibers such as cotton face recycling challenges without one of the fabrics degrading during the process.
  • Recycling fibers and use round processes is a medium term goal set by many clothing institutions, but little room has been made to recycle mixed fabrics, like polycotton.
  • The process employs part recycling and part groundbreaking discipline, using water, pressure and responsible chemistry to recover natural substances from man-made commodities.
  • Circ is already working with institutions such as Inditex and Patagonia, recycling fabrics such as cotton, polyester and polycotton, to achieve the specific commodity duties by its clients.
